Default Ac on all the time?

Greetings,
I'm the lucky owner of a 03 convertible and when ever I turn the heat on for defrost or anything else it always turns the AC on. Now if I have it on for the defrost and hit the button to turn the AC off the light blinks 4 times and then stays on, is this normal?

I have the thermostat set to 90 degrees.
The AC will turn off if I have the output set to floor/cab but not if the defrost is included.

Thanks

Hi deadman, and welcome to the forums, I'm not sure if your symptoms are normal or not, but I did read that the climate control can be reset.

See this thread... https://www.corvetteforums.com/m_43024/tm.htm

You can also check your owners manual for info on this.

I do know, on most cars with climate control, the ac will come on even if you have the heat on, to maintain a set temperature.

When air blows across the AC evaporator coil, the humidity in the air condenses on the coil, in effect, drying the air. Dry air coming from the defroster will dry the inside of the windshield faster than warm moist air. So it may be normal for theAC to come on with the defroster.

I'm sure someone with more experience with this will come along shortly.

Perfectly normal. AC provides dry (wel, driER air) so it is forced on if you have the defroster selected. Regardless of temp selected.
