Default C6 - Z06 Short Shifter

Has anyone tried the C6-Z06 short shifter on a C5? If so, is it as good, worse/better than the aftermarket short throw shifters (Hurst, B&M, BPP)?

I've tried it a couple of times. It is in between a short-shifter and the stock shifter, as far as shifting effort and throw length. I believe B&M makes a rubber-isolated shifter that also falls into this category. If you prefer vibration isolation over super-short throws, the Z06 shifter is a good choice. Keep in mind that it restricts your choice of shift *****, as it has no threads.

I have installed both a Hurst Shifter and the C6 Z06 shifter. Both are better that the stock C5 shifter. The C6 is a little shorter than the stock, requires about the same force and is quiet. The Hurst is much shorter, requires much more force and can allow some vibation noise.

For a daily driver, the C6 is probably the way to go. For sports driving on the weekends, the Hurst is more precise. All the shifters are notchy in that they require a double motion, first out of the gear into neutral and then into the next gear. You can improve the smoothness somewhat with the anti-venom mod and changing trans fluid to Royal Purple SynchroMax or Amsoil.

I've heard that the 2008 C6 shifter has been refined over previous model C6's. I have yet to check one out myself though. I have a hurst and IMO its a little notchy and not so smooth. Ive never missed a gear with it though.

I've heard they've refined the gearbox which may not be just an improved shifter. I installed the '07 Z06 shifter and it definately improved the driving experience. The only further refinements I would expect over the '07 is an even shorter throw. I don't think this is possible without reducing the shift pressure on the shifter itself.

I had been on z06vette.com the past few weeks and there is ALOT of people that have nothing but good things to say about the C6 Z06 Shifter.
I am going to purchase this shifter and go this route as well just due to the heavy volume of people being very satisfied with C6 Z06 Shifter. There had been a few complaints on the Hurst, B&M, Breathless, and Fidanza. There were a few more listed too, but those are the ones that remain fresh in my mind. Something worth checking out if your really interested in changing out your shifter.
Im not saying they are right or anyting on there, but just trying to share the information that i had run across.
