Engine compartment squeaks
I feel like a bonehead, Lately my 02 has been making sqeaking/squealing sounds more and more as time goes by so I think ok its the serpentine belt. I removed and inspected it and it showed it's age so I replaced it, squeaking continues. I next inspect the tensioner pully and notice ( with the belt removed ) that it rolls freely for a few second so I removed and replaced it; squeaking continues.
I felt like a bonehead once I noticed that the A/C has a belt of its own so I figured I would replace that belt and once removed I noticed the tensioner pully has alot of play and rolls freely for more than a few seconds, so another trip to the auto parts store and removed and replaced it. Afterward I installed the new A/C belt amd the new serpentine belt and start my car......squeaks/squeals are GONE!
I thought the serpentine belt was for everything but this is not the case, the A/C has it's own. Four and a half hours and four trips to auto parts stores and my car purrs again. LOL
