I bought a GMPP extended warranty when I bought my 01, back in June of 01. It came in handy when the column lock malfunctioned and the rear differential gasket leaked. However, when I think about the ext. warranty's cost and the cost of the repairs, I'd saw it was close to being a wash - I could've gone without it and not lost any money. Many C5 owners have Warranty Direct as an extended warranty. They seem to have good prices, but frown upon aftermarket modifications.

well its like insurance better to have it and not need it,than to need it and
not have it. if the cost is right and your mileage is good it can pay off.

I am getting ready to buy extended warranty insurance and after a lot of research will be going with GM's PP through their online service. It is cheaper than the same plan through the dealership ($1085 vs. $1600.) If you do a search on Warranty Direct, you will see there are quite a few unhappy people out there.

Best advice is to do the research on the web and make a decision that leaves you feeling comfortable. For me, getting the GM PP for the next 3 years is the right thing to do. After that, I will probably go without.

Best of luck with whatever you do.

My '03 coupe has extW but check the paint ( orange peel ) close as extW doesn't cover paint. Cost, on balance, is close. Made 7 fix it trips in first two years, what a pain. Vette quality not so good........ 8-)

RJensen,
THANK YOU for your input. I have discovered online that many companies will not offer an Extended Warranty to me because the car is a Z06 !!![>:]
Doesn't that stink !!!
A GM dealer has a proposed an amount of like $3500 or 50K miles.
Which is way expensive.
But, what do you do? You buy a big house and you buy house insurance...you buy a big car and along comes big $$$ bills.
Just to be fast.
(And hot!)

Oh and one more thing, GM has 3 different Plan Options. Buyers Beware !! Ask to carefully review before thout shall sign dotted line. Then there is a deductible and what not.
Lot's of people have said "don't" and keep the $$, however; I don't service my rides nor would I allow friends to repair a Z06.
And , NO aftermarket mods or bye-bye warranty.

No two ways about it - everything aboutCorvettes is expensive.
That is a drag that they won't cover Z06 - it's their car.

Good luck with whatever you do.
