Default Has anyone changed their gear ratio?

My Corvette mechanic (Corvette Specialty in Riverside, CA) says that if I want more torque on the low end I should change the gear ratio on my auto C5. Has anyone here ever done that? He says it may take away some of my top speed (which I never reach) but it'll put the power where I want it most...1st and 2nd gear. Any thoughts on this?

This is correct. The most popular gears for the A4 tranny seems to be 3.42s, which are standard in C5s with 6-speed trannies. Some auto tranny guys go with 3.73s, but that makes for high-rpm cruising that may be a bit disconcerting. The popular tranny for MN6 guys is the 3.90 or 4.10. After all, we have an extra two gears, so highway cruising rpm doesn't get too much out-of-hand.
