Default INTAKES

I plan on racing my friends basically stock GTO with only a K&N intake in the next couple of weeks. I drive an 01 C5 with only a Corsa exhaust. I was wondering if there was a real good intake that could give me a large horsepower gain or if I should look into doing the whole intake manifold - and what would that do for my car? Thankyou.

If its a later, LS2 400 HP car you have a good race on your hands.

The best thing you can do in a short time to gain some power advantage is to install long-tube headers on the car. Get a good set with all the gaskets and etc., and if you have access to alift its only about 2 hours work. A very good cold air intake will not add enough power (maybe 10 HPO, more like 7) that you can really feel it, headers probably will (20-25+). You really need to have the car tuned (ECM reprogrammed with either, but both will add a bit without that.

One mod that will improve your chances, if you race from a standing start, is to put a good set of drag radials on the car - you could get this done before the race and it would help immensely in your launch.

I really want to do headers but it's a lot of money. I need to get a job first I'm only 18. I just learned how to drive like a month ago but I took it to the track anyway today. I ran a 13.9 at 105 mph without launching my car. But he isn't too great of a driver. I have a month so hopefully i'll be able to do my mods by then.
