The day has finally come, on Wednesday in going to take a look at a c5 that a local auto broker is going to buy from an auction.
Anything i need to look out for? (mechanically, cometically, ect. "it will either be a 97' or 98' m6")
any advise would help, and keep your fingers crossed for me!!

 

Check for gas gauge not working, and make sure the transmission shifts OK & does not make noise.

 

Beyond all the usual stuff you check with any car, if it is a '97 or '98 check that there is no corrosion under the battery (if it every leaked you could have problems. The driver's seat tends to wear heavily and the thread seam burst on the side nearest the door from heavy wear. Abuse the trans a little going into 3rd (use the clutch, but shift fast) -- if the car has been speed shifted or drag raced a lot that will be the weak set of synchros. Check that the headlights go up and down fully and quickly -- operate them several times and see--on some older cars the gears moving them strip or wear out. Before you buy have someone drive the car slowly away from you while you are behind it, then toward you while you are in front - twice so you can view both sides:: watch and make sure the wheels aren't bent, etc. (stupid owners spin their cars into a curb -- the wheels usually bend, not break, and its obvious. If so, stay away from it: you can replace a bent wheel, but its expensive if the suspension was bent, too.
