Non run flat tires
ORIGINAL: Architect
you can get a very simple, small, yet effective pump that plugs into your cigarette lighter for about $30 i think, and it will fit in the center cargo compartment under the big lid in the trunk. beyond that, fix a flat and tire plug kits are only a couple of bucks each. the nice thing is, unless you just hit a nail and the tire goes down fast, your tire pressure monitoring system should catch it as it starts getting low.

if ya use the fix a flat ya may ruin the psi sensor in the wheel.if ya really wanna handle well get z06 rims and GY supercar tires [non run flat] throw in z06 sway bars and you will not believe what the car can do. DOWN SIDE 20k and ya need new tires, dont even think about doing highway speeds in heavy rain .if hipo driving isnt your quest just stay with run flats.another plus to non run flats is the bump oversteer in turns is almost gone
Thanks for the reply.
My interest in tire differances is to get a smoother, quieter ride. Z06, although intreging, is beyond my need.
Your coment about ruining the psi sensor is well noted. It adds substantially to a simple tire repair.
I have some time before I need to make a decision unless I get a flat. Then I may have to replace two tires on the same end to run right if the flat (although rare I understand) isa major failureand cant be fixed.
I also need to find out why a "run flat" can run at 55 mph for 200 miles without air in the tire. Why can a run flt do this? Will it ruin the rim, etc.
