Default oil leak

I have a 98 corvette ls1 and am having some type of oil leak. I was back out of the garage and there was a stream of oil. I looked under the back of the car and it appears to be leaking somewhere in the middle of the car close to the rear axle. I am not a car expert and was wondering if it was some kind of rear oil seal leak. If it is about what is the repair cost with having a mechanic do it. I dont want to get ripped off.
Thanks

It could very well be the differential gasket - a very common issue. I believe the shop labor time is 1.9 hours; throw in the gasket(s) and you're looking at $200 or more.

check your vent, they are prone to mimicing a seal/gasket.again get it up on a lift or jack it up [safe wise] and LOOK
