Default RDCM NO COMM !!!!

ok, so after being very confused and frustrated, (for those of you who ready my thread titled "many codes/issues", you'll know what i'm talking about), i noticed this morning that my key fob would not operate the passenger side door. so, i went on my way, and while driving, i thought, why not try and role the passenger window down, just to see?? and ofcourse, it didn't work....shortly after, the gauges on my dash went crazy again....the drivers side door and radio still worked, but teh passenger door was dead. after jiggling the rubber gromlet near the door hinges, and starting the car again, the door sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. also, one time the gauges went crazy, and i hit a bump, and most of them calmed down, and things started working agin, including the right side door....since i've already cleaned the grounds near the headlights, i'm fairly certain that my crazy gauges are the result of something shorting out my passenger side door...after all, that door randomly does not operate now. the other thing that makes me believe this is that now, after i restart the car each time, all codes in every category read as history codes, except the RDCM, it either reads as NO COMM, if it currently isn't working, or NO CODES if it is currently working....so, thanks to Dave, and the others who responded to my previous thread, but now my question is this: is there a typical location for this door to short out? or is it usually the whole thing going out? I can trace wires under the hood all day, but if the problem is typically inside the door, how hard is that to get to???? any help would be much appreciated!!

This should help:

BTW, based upon this guy's similar situation, the answer is in the driver's side wire bellows; a shorting wire is all it takes to throw all kinds of codes and create all kinds of havoc.

A while ago I had a problem where just my driver's window would not open and some other codes were being thrown. I tore the car apart looking for grounding issues and finally figured out it was just the battery. Well, the car started having the same symptoms and I thought it was the battery. I went and bought another battery today and it did not fix the window problem. So, before I started ripping the car apart I decided to give Bill a call who was washing his car in the dark.

It took me longer to find my keys than it took him to diagnose the problem. He told me to put the keys in the ignition and jiggle around the rubber boot between the door and the car. Bingo! Window starts working. Thanks Bill! You saved me from tearing my hair apart. Apparently the contacts between the four plugs can get corroded, break, or loose. I think mine are loose cuz they don't look too bad and all the wires look good. I'm going to clean them anyway since I have easy access to them right now.

well Dave (and anybody else who has read this) last night i tinkered with the rubber gromlet and the connector which is talked about in the above link. I really didn't do much, just pressed the connecters together as tight as I could, and pulled just a little wire free from inside the body, under the dash, so as to free up a little slack in the connection.. it seemed like the whole connection was a bit tight, i mean, no wire to spare!!! I'm guessing this might be why the thing occassionally had no communication, connectors just slightly pulling loose....anyway, this mornign i went for a long drive through the countryside, through the hills, older, rougher roads, and back home again....I played with the window, mirror, and lock on the passenger side door off and on the whole way, and it worked like a charm every time. never did get anymore crazy gauges either. when i got home i checked the codes and there were no new ones! i'm keeping my fingers crossed that the problem is solved, but if it happens again, you can bet i'll look in that area first!

Thanks alot Dave for pointing me in the right direction! I searched bothof these corvette forums but never did come up with that exact thread....I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, otherwise I'd still be very frustrated!!!

Architect,
From what I've learned, your problem sounds like an issue with the power window module
located inside the passenger door. On the other, (older) Corvette forum there are instructions in their archives on how to repair it.

John
