Default synthetic oil versus the natural product

Hey gang,

Back early fall way I hooked up with a an 03 coupe........love it too. Traded my 79 in on this one. Sorry I took so long to make the deal. I love the old, but will take the new anytime.

The dealer changed the oil before I got the car. I don't know if theydumped insynthetic or not. The manual with the car recommends synthetic. What is the penalty if the synthetic gets replaced with the natural stuff? Lots of miles on the car...just turned 59K and about 400 since the oil change. I am a bit concerned the selling dealer was notbowtie.

I have asked and around and the replies I get are mostly dumb stares.

I'd go ahead and replace the oil and filter with what is recommnded by the factory, and take no chances.

Not knowing what was put in, I would change it to a GM4718M oil, to insure proper lubrication. Then follow the Oil Life Monitor.

Current list of GM4718M Registered Products.GM's approved list.

76 Super Synthectic Motor Oil: 5w-30,10w-30
AC Delco Full Synthetic: 5w-30
Castrol SLX Professional 4718: 5w-30
Chevron Supreme Synthetic: 5w-30, 10w-30
CITGO SUPERGUARD Synthetic: 5w30, 10w-30
Kendall GT-1 Ultimate Synthectic Motor Oil: 5w-30, 10w-30
Mobil 1: 0w-30, 5w-30, 10w-30
Northland, SynergySynthetic: 5w-30
Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic: 5w-30, 10w-30
Q Horsepower: 5w-30, 10w-30
Texaco Havoline Synthetic: 5w-30, 10w-30
Valvoline SynPower: 5w-30

If you don't have an Owner's Manual, you can download a .pdf one at this site.
