Tested my first C5 today...is this normal?
As the title suggests I tried out my first C5 while searching for one to buy today. it was a 2002 with about 44k on it, base model, glass roof coupe, automatic. the front end of it was a bit rough, both of the front brake ducts were knocked out of position. I was able to move them back by hand. the fog lights were way out of alignment as I could tell just by looking at them, and there was a crack in the facia which had been repaired, but without sanding or repainting. I don't really think this is the car for me, but I wanted to ask. I took it out on a 55mph road which goes over a small brige. its a pretty smooth transition with only a bit of a bump. but when I went over it the roof made a fairly loud banging sound. is that normal? other than that the ride was very nice. this car had a flowmaster exhaust put on it. it sounded pretty good at high rpms, but was nice and mellow at cruise. the tires were pretty worn on it but it was still very smooth and responsive. I must admit it was a very nice ride, although I was expecting it to feel a bit more powerful, but that's just perception, its got a good 100 hp on my current weekend car, and its much lighter too. I got a carfax on it which said that it was purchased originally in 3/2002, and was repoed in 2003 with 25k on it already. that plus the condition I found it in looks like its had a questionable past. no accidents reported though. I'm going to keep looking for a while and hope to find a 6 speed.
I agree, there were just too many things that were unknown about it. and he price was much too high. if it had been in resonable shape then it would be a great car, its a 2002 with 44k. but for $27k...I'll keep looking
