Tire Size Question
I'mpurchasing a new set of wheels formy car soon,so I'm curious about tire sizes for the rear. I'm going with theChrome Z06 Motorsports........
(18x9.5" fronts, and 19x11" rear)
SO, my question is......whatdo you thinkthe widest tire I can put on a 19x11, and still retainamoderate profile? (I definitely wantto gowider than295)
I was thinkingabout maybe a 305/30/19, but I'm not sure.

RE: Tire Size Question
On a C5, a 295 on 18 x 10.5 inch rims fits (its the stock size on a ZO6). A 305 onthat same rimrubs just a bit, at least in turns if you have adjusted the rear down half an inch or more. I don't know about 19 inch x 11 rims but expect that it would be very tight with 305s An easy way to get past this is the Lingenfelter mini-tubbing kit -- pretty easy to do if you follow the instructions, with new inner fender liners that bump the walls in by more than two inches. You can run 13 inch wide wheels and 345 wide tires with no rubbing. (By the way, Ling. has the instructions for the kit downloadable from their website so you can look over the work involved before you buy).

At the timeI have a stock ride height, andplan onkeeping it that way until I mount the new wheels. Then I'll see how low I can take it before it rubs.My main objective is to get rid of as much wheel gap as possible on the stock bolts. I'd rather accomplish some of that with the taller wheels and tires so that I don't have todrop the bottom of the cardown as much. Mycar alreadyalmost scrapes the driveway as I pull in.
I know some of the wheel/tire combosthey sell on WCChave 19x11 with 305/30/19 onthem and itsays: "Direct bolt on, no modifications required". I'm sure it probably means at a stock ride height though. So, I guess if it does rub a little bit I can always do like you mentioned and install the mini-tub kit. Thanks again!

RE: Tire Size Question
315's -- at least 315 BFG drag radials -- rubbed on my 'vettewith the stock fender liners, even though they were within 1/10 inch of the stock diameter -- it was the width and square shoulder that did the rubbing. The original rear wheels with those 315s are now on the Camaro (where they also rub, but the Camaro's fender liners are metal and a few minutes with a hammer takes care of that).
