Default Unable to shift from park to drive Help

I am having a problem getting the shifter to come out of park into another gear. The steering column is not locked I have one of those simulators and I think it had been disengaged by the dealership. I unplugged the wire harness from the shifter lock solenoid and this seems to fix the problem. My question is with that solenoid unplugged does that prevent anything else from working?
Thanks
EV

Welcome to the forum.

Not sure what the simulator is. The brake switch that activates the solenoid that you disconnected maybe bad or a connection to that switch may have come dislodged.

The simulator is the kit that Corvettes of Houston sells to fix the steering lock problem that C5s have
