I'm concerned that I have never heard or seen the rad fan run with the temp gage of 220 or higher. Any input to the temp of fan starting would be helpful. The temp cools off after leaving "city" traffic. This has happened with our 06 and 01, not to mention the hot running 65.

 

What water temp does the car go up to in traffic? If the fans weren't kicking in it would climb pretty high. Maybe you just do not hear them?

What water temperature/oil temperature; are you seeing when:
it is a hot day (100 deg F)
the car is fully warmed up
you are crawling or sitting in traffic?

I usually get 196/212 max but have seen 220/245
