Default 1st gear lag

This past Tuesday I went to the dragstrip to test my '06 twin turbo (485 rwhp). This was the first time ever running any car at the track, so to say the least I'm pretty inexperienced. The best time was 11.9 @ 124mph, with a 60' time of 2.19. The car seemed to lag bigtime off the start, but in 2nd gear and on it ran great. I guess I should also let you guys know I took the runflats off and replaced them with bfg's. I was told that if I keep the stock gears, I'll need to get a torque converter. I've had no luck finding one for an '06 model, does anyone know where to find one.....or know of a better solution to my problem. Thanks in advance!

Well, it ought to do nearly a half second better with 485 RWHP. When I ran 465 RWHP with a Magnusen in my vette it would do 11.5-ish and did one 11.4. What type and size of bfgs? (there are three grades. Have you thought about drag radials on the rear?

Turbos, at least non-factory turbos in my experience, take a bit of time to spool up and it is common to have a lag off the line, maybe you can practice and reduce it. I don't know if and how you could put in a torque converter without changing the trans out completely. I would not do it.

Yeah that's exactly what I was expecting...mid 11's, so I was pretty disappointed. I forgot to say in the first email that I was using the paddle shift. The bfg's are the same size as my stock tires were. The turbo I have is from APS. And yes I have thought about drag radials, but this is a daily driver so I'd be changing tires quite a bit if I did make the switch. The next time I go I'm gonna try building up more rpms, rather than worrying so much about tire spin. Thanks for the info!
