Default 2007 won't go into Park or Drive

Has anyone had this issue? I've been told that it's probably just the linkage cable and shouldn't be too terribly expensive, it's an automatic. Would love to hear from you seasoned vets what I may be looking at here. I bought this car in October and haven't really gotten to drive it too much. I'm trying to keep the mileage down. It had only 45,xxx miles on it when I purchased it. It always ran fine until I pulled up at home one evening and it wouldn't go in to Park. I am puzzled. .Please help!!
Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forums. Broffermoon a short time back had a 94 corvette with the similar problem, he had the 2 bolts fail that held the shifter cable bracket to the transmission pan. He replaced the pan bolts, your issue sounds similar. Park position is the hardest position to put the transmission in.
If you have the ability to lift up the drivers side of the car, and support it safely. Have someone help you by shifting the transmission from low 1 to park as you watch the linkage at the transmission from underneath the car. That would be a good place to start. Hopefully it's an issue as simple as that. Good Luck..

Thank you so much for the input. I have a retired Corvette mechanic coming to look at it today or tomorrow. Will definitely let you know!
