Default Avoiding Dealer Hassle

I wanted to know if anyone here has bought from Kerbeck's in Atlantic City? They have been recommended to me by a couple of friends, and I just wanted to do my homework before I buy. I already have the options all picked out, so all I'm waiting for is next spring to arrive before I move on this. My only fear is dealer hassle, because I have dealt with it in the past with local dealers. A few years back I was really interested in a new Ford Lightning pickup, but found the dealerships here to be a nightmare to deal with. First off, there are only a few SVT Ford dealers here in the Pittsburgh area so if I wanted to buy locally my options were pretty slim. While I knew I would probably be paying full-sticker, I was shocked to find that the dealers around here were getting 3-5k OVER sticker for these trucks. Also, they were not offering test-drives (at least not to me @ 24 yrs old). Even though I had perfect credit, cash to put down, etc. I could not find a dealer who seemed to be interested in doing business with me without trying to price gouge. They acted like these $31,000.00 trucks were made by Ferrari or something. After shopping around for a couple of weeks, I decided to use the money I would have put down on one of these trucks for some new equiptment for my pavment coatings business. The arrogence of the dealers was the determining factor for me deciding to not buy the truck.

I don't want to deal with this same thing when I buy my Vette. The reputation of the local Vette dealers here is even worse than the SVT dealers I just described above. I even have one friend who bought his C6 coupe down in GA, instead of dealing with the most popular Vette dealer here in town. He said the money he saved, hassle he avoided, etc. was worth the 500+ mile trip.

The bottom line is that I know for a fact that I will not be buying from a local Pittsburgh area dealer. I would much rather give my business to a helpful, fair, and especially non-arrogant, non-eliteist dealer. I just don't want a bad taste in my mouth when I pull off the lot. Which is what I will surely have if I buy locally.

I just bought a 2007 vette from a pittsburgh area dealer and they weren't too bad. In fact, I got a pretty good deal. I find it hard to believe dealers from other areas are much different. I think it's your age more than anything. Also if you buy now in our area you can save ALOT of dough right about now because dealers start to get worried about paying for floor space on a car that will probably sit for another 5-6 months. In fact the dealer I got mine from has two more he might be as eager to get rid of.

I just bought a new 07 and paid invoice for it because the dealer didn't want it sitting on the floor and the fact that they only get one corvette a year. They still make some $ because of the hold back and stuff but were really wanting to sell it before the snow hits. The car I bought had a sticker of $66k and they sold it at invoice for $59k.

I also know of a dealer here in town that have a "triple black" 2006 & 2007 that they will really want to deal on. We're about 2 hours east of Pittsburg in a town called "Ashtabula, Ohio" just 20 east of the PA border.

email me at mrbugs@alltel.net and I'll give you the details if interested.

Regards,

mrbugs
