Default just installed my intake....

finally got my intake yesterday....to anyone in miami....do not ever buy from a store called platinum customs....they took 2 weeks to get me my product, 1 week more than what we had agreed upon[:'(]...now for the results...i dont have access to a dyno or anything, but the i can feel the difference. i have never driven a car before and after the intake was intalled, but i must say i felt the difference. i felt the engine working a lot more efficiently, like the power was there ready to go(not that it wasnt before, but you know what i mean). i cruised the car at different speeds(40MPH, 55MPH, 60 MPH) at 40 the car was avg about 23mpg and at 55 and 60 it ranged from 33-34.5 MPG. i know what your thinking it's a vette who really carses about gas! this is my daily driver, so gas is an issue. i must say im very satisfied with the K&N Air Charger Intake i got. one question though for the techs...the K&N peeps include a dyno readout for the vette, but it says the stock vette only pushes 340HP(350HP with the intake istalled)compared to the advertised stock 400HP.....whats up with that numbers change?

HP ratings are always over rated anyway, IMO. Or I should say mis-represented.
The 340 they are talking about is at the rear wheels, the advertised stock HP is basically at the flywheel. In other words what your engine can produce before the tranny, driveline and wheels get in the way.

I don't know what intake you have so I do not know what to think of it, but very few produce more than 5 HP, and then only when moving and cold air is rammed in. Manufacturers and sellers are permitted a bit of "puffery" in representations of their products, and apparently, they all take it. I would expect a completely objective dyno test would show about 3-5 HP difference.

Kind of like what they do when they rate the MPG . Although I hear they are going to be a little more strict regarding this in the future. Like what we really would expect in real world driving.
