Looking for input regarding new 2007
I'm in a confused state at the moment and hoping for some input. I made a terrible mistake yesterday and stopped by to see a friend who owns a Chevy dealership. Presently I have a 2003 Anniversary Edition Converitble w/6 speed manual. Love the car, lots of fun however, having some problems with circulation in my legs making shifting somewhat bothersome, especially in the city.
The problem is that I drove a new 2007 convertible 6 sp automatic with paddle shiffters/power roof /navigation. It's stickered at $66k. My friend only gets one Corvette a year from GM since he's in a depressed market and basically can't sell them.
He offered the car to me at invoice (about $59k) and offered me $38k trade-in for my 2004 Anniversary model. Basically, it will cost me $23k and my Anniversary 2003 for the new car.
I'm really tempted just for the power top & navigation plus more power. Am I thinking straight? Trading in my 2003 Anniv for a 2007 model?
Any advice? Also, do you think the power roof will be a problem as the car ages?
Thanks for any thoughts you can share.

Go for it.
Life is short. Have fun.
Power top? First, you have a warranty. Second, I have a friend with a '69 Eldorado conterible. Its power top still works.

RE: Looking for input regarding new 2007
Thanks Lee. My confusion (lack of decision) is in a few basic areas:
1) Is the Anniversary 2003 (C5) somethng I should hang onto (only 6000 miles) due to it being an Anniversary model instead of buying the 2007?
2) I really didn't have too many problems with the C5 but see alot of issues with the C6. Is 2007 supposed to be a better year for the C6? Are most of the problems with the C6 worked out?
3) Is the C7 right around the corner and maybe I should wait for that?
4) Am I getting a pretty good deal financially? (2007 MSRP $66k, selling to me for $59k plus giving me $38k for my 2003, net with tax is $23k for the 2007)
I'm really trying to avoid the emotional sale syndrome but I just can't help it. I really would like the 07 due to the C6 look, plus power top/nav/Z51 perfrom package/6 speed paddle shift/chrome wheels etc.
The hardest (if I buy it) is to see it sit in the garage for the next 6 months until late spring arrives.
Any thoughts? Would you make the deal? Am I putting too much emphasis on the Annivesary 2003 and in reality they're a dime a dozen. I'm 48 and my plan WAS when I bought the 2003 to keep it for my grandson some day (30 years from now) but it looks like he may be getting a 2007 instead of a 2003????
Any thoughts anyone would like to share would be appreciated.
Thanks again, mrbugs

RE: Looking for input regarding new 2007
I may be able to offer you some insight. I recently purchased a 2007 C6 convertable with the Z-51 package, automatic top and chrome wheeles. I love it (so far) and have very little dislikes about it. I sold a 1997 30th anniv. camaro (with a corvette LT1 engine and all the works) and didn't get that much more for it being a "anniv. edition". It had a factory cheverolet automatic convertable top and I never had a problem with it in 8 years. Early word from chevy is a projected release for the C7 of 2013. I've had a C4 and C5 as well and this one is a beast (and a beauty ) compared to the previous models. ( with all due respect ) The aniv. corvette is a beauty and I considered buying one instead of this new one, but got too good a deal on this one to pass it up. Feel free to E-mail me and ask any questions you would like about my new one and I am still a little interested in your model as well.

30 yrs.?!!! Forget the grandson, and get what you can out of life!
I've got 5 g-kids and 1 on the way. I'll be da**ed if I'm going to let them run any part of my life.
When I'm done with my C3, there ain't gonna be a whole lot left to pass on. I'll drive 'er into the ground. I bought it for me, not my g-kids. There's enough other stuff for 'em to fight over, when I'm gone. What if your g-kid wants a Mazda?[&:]
(I just read that back, sorry, didn't mean to be so harsh)[&o]
It's your car, do what the heck ya want, you are taklin' 30 yrs!
How many Vettes can you go through in "30" years? 4, 5...7, 8?
