Question regarding salvaged vette
Hey guys,I just got a 2000 vette but its salvaged. The car is sitting in my garage for the time being. When I turn the key, not all the way on, nothing happens. Is there a button or switch I have to push to reset the car after its been in a accident? If so, can you tell me where I can find this button/switch? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Check all the obvious things, but I imagineyou will have to start at ground zero and go through the entire car. Clearly your car has electrics issues. Many salvage cars are water damaged, particularly now, after Katrina, etc. It could be you have one of these. Water gets into all the electrical connections and does damage that is really not easily reversible. Regardless of what you were told about the salvage title, etc., don't assume anything.
So,you need to start at the battery and trace/verify power flow through the car and its wiring harness, verifying that it is going where it needs to go, and that every switch and device works, and that it isn't going where it should not. This is not an easy or fun job and it takes a lot of time: it could take a a year of hobby time. If your car has had water damage you will probably have to replace the ECM, the BCM, all of the fuse boxes and someof the electric motors (seats, etc). It's a long job. (I've done it once in my life, the reason I will never do it again).

hey thanks for the reply. the car does not have water damage, i am 100% certain of that. the car was in an accident, mostly the front end is where the impact is. i just wanted to turn the car on to see if everything, such as the radio and what not, still works. anyways, if you know about any switch or reset button please let me know. thanks.

Any chance the auction house cut the Battery Wires? Sometimes things like that happen in the impound yard.
I had a S-10 truck that had a similar issue as your vette. It turns out one of the wires bubbed bare exposing the wire and shorting the system. It blew a "Slow Blow" fuse that was located under the battery. (Not in the fuse box) The fuse was about the size of a stick of gum, and connected one of the battery wires to another segment of it. I don't know if the vette specifically has one, but I am willing to guess that it does.
I would assume that the accident damaged at least one of the wires, shorting the electrical system.
if you have a volt meter you can check for power at the abttery, then at the Fuse box, and work your way up.
