Not sure what a lowering kit does. I lowered my vette 1 inch in front and .8 inches at the rear just by adjusting the adjustable portions on the suspension, then had it re-aligned on all four corners. Still handles like it should, looks a bit better, and less air gets underneath which is sort of critical at the speeds it can reach in the mile. Only problem is the front air dam won't go over speed bumps now without scraping.

I agree with your reasoning. I already find that mine tends to "catch" a speed bump every now and then. As far as handling is concerned, the Z51 takes EXCELLENT care of that so I am not sure what quantum of an improvement I would derive.
