Procharger a/c problems
Finally got my supercharger for my 05 Vette! It is incredible! I have a Victory red coupe with stock chrome wheels, borla exhaust and now the procharger system. Has anyone else out there with this system had problems with the a/c after install and what was your fix for it? Mya/c intermittently turns on and off when really hot and of course, it is only a problem when I am standing still.
The on-off sounds like an electrical or control problem. I had no problem with the drive or controls to the AC with my Prochrager D1SC.
One common problem with SCR installations is intermitant open circuits in any wiring that is moved or re-routed and reconnected using crimp-on connectors -- they are surprisingly undependable and often fail to conduct well. If you re-routed, lengthened, or cut and then reconnected any wiring under the hood with crimp on connectors, try removing them and soldering/taping the connections instead. If you did anything to the AC or heat sensor/control wires this would be my bet.
You may also have some sort of overheating problem causing the unit to click off for some reason. Is the engine running hotter with the SCR? If so you may need a larger radiator.

Thanks for your quick reply! I think I willdefinetly needa bigger radiator. It iscertainly running hotter about 220 at a standstill, and you can hear the compressor click on and off.
Do you have a C6? The ProCharger system (so I've been told) isvery different than the C5 system.I saw inVette magazine a article about the Procharger. Theowner of that carsaid his A/C did what mine is doing and that supposedly Procharger was working on it. I drove it around today and it is certainly one "HOT" Vette in more ways than one![:@]

I have a C5 with a Procharger D1SC, the D1 uses the same case/brackets as the standard P model used on most C5s and C6s but with larger impellors formore flow (needed with the 427 and ported heads). The installation is slightly different but not much from C6 models I've seen..
Procharger had a lot of problems with the idler/tensioner plate&bracket on C5 models: it tended to warp and cause belts to rip/tear/thrown. There was a modified plate&bracket from A&A that solved that (which I have) although in time Procharger solved that problem.
Get a good, dual core radiator for the cooling -- you will need it. Many come with an integral oil cooler and this is a good idea, too: oil provides about 20% of the cooling in the engine: put your digital display on oil temp and watch it spike in seconds when you punch it to full boost: the oil is cooling the underside of the pistions and it gets really hot really fast.
An oil cooler will use up about 3-5 lbs of oil pressure, you can compensate if the lower oil pressure worries you with a ported/polished/heavier spring stock oil pump (MTI and others sell them) or there is a very heavy duty aftermarket pump that ups flow by a lot (but it will not fit if you install a double row timing chain as most people do who run big cams/bigger valves, etc.).

I have a 05 C6 coupe with the same Procharger
you have, and also the same problem! ATI told
me to take the car to a dealer, and they could
fix the problem in a few minutes! ATI told me
the AC had too much refrigerant in the system!
The dealer told me they had not heard of any
problem like this. ATI then told me to let some
refrigerant out! I did not try that, and still have
the same problem. Good luck, Talk to ATI,
maybe they will have a better cure by now!
Let me know if you ever get it fixed. It does
not feel good having the heater go on, when it
is 95 degrees out side.
BTW, I installed the lower rated thermostat,
and my car stays at about 196 Degrees.
