Welcome to the forum.

Remember that these cars have a plastic body and they are usually a little bit different from side to side. I had a similar problem on my 73 when I went to a wider tire on different wheels.

It required trimming some fiberglass on the inner edge of the fender flare at the rear of the opening. It was a very minor amount of removal.

Are both front and rear hitting? Are they hitting up inside the fender? One thing you could try would be to put on a taller bump stop and see if that helps.
