C8 Convertible - Buy New or Wait 1 year
Hi,
I am trying to decide on whether I should preorder a new C8 Convertible or wait until they come out and get a cheaper one with low mileage 6-12 months after they are released. I really want to see and test drive one before I buy one. Questions I am looking for guidance on:
1) Do you think there will be many used C8 Corvette Convertibles on the market 6-12 months after it is released?
2) Do you think the first year depreciation of ~20% is a reasonable expectation for a 1 year old Convertible?
3) I heard the regular corvettes are already sold out. Is there a way to find out how much of quota for the pre-sales will be sold out?
4) If I preordered a new one and changed my mind do you typically lose your deposit with the dealer?
5) My friend works for GM. What sort of discount do you normally get with the friends and family discount?
Thanks

1. No
2. Probably
3. Yes the coupes are sold out but not sure what you're asking. If you're asking if there's a way to separate customer orders from the dealer orders, there is probably someone on this forum that can supply that information.
4. If the car has reached Status 3100 - Order Available to Sequence - Yes, you would lose it. However, if the order is in Status 1100 and they can sell your allocation to another buyer, it's possible you could get a refund of your deposit. That would be up to the dealer.
5. You would get "Supplier Pricing" but I'm not sure GM Dealerships would accept the Family and Friends on the 2020, but there again, it would be up to the dealer and any GM rules regarding this program.
