Default 1972 Door Locks

Hey All,

I'm new on here and have a couple of quesitons. I have a 1972 vette and I am having problems with the drivers door lock. It's binding and the door catch mechanism is not closing all of the way. Does anyone know of a good shop in southern California that I can have work on this at a reasonable rate? Any help would be appreciated.

Default RE: 1972 Door Locks

In case you haven't tried it yet... WD40 can work wonders. Just slide the little red straw in through the opening for the latch mechanism and give everything a good juice with it. Work the handles, key lock, and interior lock post back and forth a couple times. Repeat as necessary. Saved me ripping doors apart many times. Dirt and gunk can get in through the door openings, and gum up the lubricant on the moving parts. Throw in a little surface rust, and C3 doors can bind up pretty quick.

bill.
