1993 CORVETTE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS
I have a 1993 Corvette and this week several electrical problems started at the same time. First the driver side window will not go down, keyless entry stopped working, radio will not operate as well as the antenna. My husband replaced the fuses and the only thing that would work was the keyless and this fuse blew after about an hour. I had noticed nothing different about the car when this started. Think this is my question, where are the modules located on the 93. Checked with a dealership and they stated the information booklets do not give the locations as this is involved with the security system. Thanking you in advance for any information. Sorry if I seemed vague regarding my question. I will state that I have owned this car since new and never had a problem.
Ah...[:'(]..g.!!!! I hate dealerships that do this. They either didn't know or couldn't be bothered. Probably don't know. As an owner you're entitled to know this stuff. I wish I could help, but be patient and I know someone in this forum will help you out. We have a great bunch here!!!
First, does the radio light up at all? GM usually uses 2 fuses for the radio, 1 for memory, the other for operation. I think the only module that is affected is the body control module on the keyless entry, but I'll need to check wiring diagrams. The power windows, radio and antenna are not affected by any module in 93, but in much later years they are. Probably nothing wrong with antenna other than the radio not working since it only operates when you turn radio on and it grounds antenna relay to work antenna. I'm afraid the door might require a little surgery to ascertain the trouble, but I would suspect either a switch or window motor. If the switch is in the console (my 86 is), then you can usually pop the switch out and check with a test light to see if it is operational. If you have power out of the switch in the down position, then the motor is bad. Good luck. [8D]
Hi Folks: Thanks so much for responding. Mech 259, the radio light does not come on at all. I'm still driving the car. Thank goodness the air has not gone out, if that had been out it would almost be impossible in the hot weather we are having. I'm passing the replies on to my hubby to see if he can continue to sort out the problems. Thanks to each of you.
