1996 lt4 no start abs / asr problem
hey guys, im new to the forums and i am having a problem with this 96 5.7 coupe (mfg. 11-95) not starting. i get no spark and with a test light i have traced the wires from the ASR unit under the hood to the ABS unit behind the driver seat and found that when the ignition is turned on the power gets cut off to the ASR. if i disconnect the battery and reconnect it, the power is restored to the ASR.
i have replaced the optispark cap and rotor, checked all fuses and the only problem i can seem to find is this asr loss of power. i pulled codes and mod 1 was C12 mod 9 was H72, H73, and H75. no current codes were displayed. im praying there is somebody out there who can help me out???
im working without the fsm but was able to find the ABS/ASR manual for LT1-LT5 from another thread but it doesn't seem to have the 96 LT4 vehicle parts or procedures listed.
Briefly;
here is what happened. last week i used the car to jump start another and when the cables were removed the + cable touched a ground and the car died instantly. it threw a little spark, and generated a puff of smoke from under the master cylinder area. i did check the 2 fusable links behind the battery and they're ok.
thanks for any and all help and direction,
johnny
