4 bolt LS4s
Are Glen and I the only ones that still have 73's with LS4's left? I know with about 4400 made... we can't be the only ones out there. Lee Willis has helped by letting me know that the 4 bolt blocks in question were probably returned to the Tonawanda engine plant when they were surplused from the racing program, and that it might be as low as 16 total. I am still looking for any info that might help. I am also an NCRS member... but don't even try that message board. To them, a 73 is as desirable as a Vega. I'm just looking for answers... anythng will help.
Thanks,
Wedge

Hey Wedge, I really spent some time asking folks I thought might know and nobody seems to really know. You do have some sort of very rare motor, that is for sure.
You know, its a long shot, but what if you called the guys at Motor Trend? They have a new publication they do on classic cars, and they might know someone who knows more. Yeah, they're busy, but they're car nuts, too. Worth a shot. Way I would do it: Go to a big newstand (Barnes & Noble) find a Motor Trend Classics issue and look up the name of their guy who looks like he is their expert on 70s muscle cars (i';ve read a couple of issues, they have such a guy). Then call Motor Trend offices and ask for him.

Lee... Thanks again. I hadn't thought about that. I subscribe to Vette magazine (POS in general... but occasionally informative...) and they won't even answer my posts. You've been a great help. I have a contact at GM named Josh Holder... he is on the development team for C6's, but has access to old corporate directories. I am still looking in that direction. I'm not doing this for bragging rights. This engine, by all accounts does not exist. But here it is, in my car, with all the correct stampings that make it origional as it left St. Louis. It's a quest now! I am also going to get off my ***, between those deep powder days that skiing is so good, and drop the tank. Maybe the destination code might help to unravel this a little more.
Thanks again for all your help.
Wedge
Thanks again for all your help.

Whatever you do, take care of it. You might have the automotive equivalent of the 1909 S VDB or whatever it is-- the penny worth a million bucks, etc. GM did weird things back in the time it was in and out and in and out of racing. Regardless, its just cool 'cause its there and real.
I love the whole idea of it.
