i have an '84 with 46k that won't start. the fuel pump was replaced 5 yrs ago and i just replaced the fuel filter. it'll turn over for a while, almost start up with a sputter, then quickly die. any direction to point me in would be much appreciated

 

Hey C4, You have to have 3 things to make an engine run Spark, fuel, and compression. I would start with pulling off a plug wire and ground it and see if it sparks. If it does then remove the fuel line and see if you have fuel pressure. and if it does then you need to check the compression. But from your thread it sounds like it's fuel related. If you have not changed the plugs in awhile, then that is affordable, I would try that.
