C5 tunnel in passenger compartment

Default C5 tunnel in passenger compartment
I want to drill two 1/4" holes in the tunnel (by the driver's right knee) about 8" up from the floor. My question is, is it safe to do this? Do I run into the danger of drilling into wires, tubes , etc? This is a C5 6-speed coupe. Please advise...
