Default Changing the Battery

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to change the battery in my 1985 corvette? There is a steel brace or bracket above it, should this be removed or should I remove the side panel on the car to remove the battery? I would hate to do it the hard way, I don't have the owners manual. Can anybody help?

I've done it both ways,I prefer taking the body panel off. That's what one of my manuals reccomends.

The easiest way is to take the side panel off. I believe there are two bolts on the bottom and the wheel well screws. The hardest part is the small bracket that is inside holding the battery in place. Be carefull when you tighten the bolts and screws down. I remove my battery every Fall and store it for the Winter.
