Default heat from floorboards and preventing it...

Good day folks,

New memeber and just got my first Corvette (whew, bout time).

I'm wondering if anyone has had success with 'Reflectix' insulation (it's aluminum foil, bubble pack, aluminum foil) under their carpeting in the footwell area. I've used this product previously on other cars and loved it.

Thoughts anyone?

Tia,

Jim

I have the same dilema. I'm goin' to sidepipes, which I prefer anyway, and I'll be looking to Ecklers for carpeting and heat shields.

Hi jdeatsch, That's some accent you have there, being from Neu Yawk, but we'll try to help. You are so far north, are you trying to keep the heat in or out? Okay, lets get serious, I used "The Insulator" from www.riksvet.com (part# car551) and it worked fine for me. It's foil backed and 5/16 thick. I've hear you can go to Lowes or Homedepot and get something for less money. I'm happy with what I got as it works. On my car there was also a lower transion boot that was shot and replacing that also helped to keep the heat out. On C-3s there is a transmission foam collar and transmission insulator that keeps the heat outside.
Help this helps, PG

Oh jeesh PG, now I'm busted.

However, I'm not from here, just live here. About 350 miles from that city place, out in the country. So there.

I'll give the Reflectix a shot (since I have some of it left over from my 41 ****** Coupe).

Thanks guys,

Jim

Damn, no pics I don't think.

I think all I have is a pic of the inside with my Granddaughter sitting in it during construction.

You know how it is when you sell a car. sigh.
