ok well as i said im new and thanks for looking i just bought my girl and her steering collum is loose she is a c4 1984 is there anyone who can please tell me how to tightin it up?

 

I am going to assume you mean the tilt wheel section of the column is loose. This was a common problem with older GM cars and trucks.

It is not that difficult to fix, there are just some screws inside that need to be tightened, but you need a special tool to get the column apart without all the parts falling all over.

I would get out the yellow pages or search the web for repair shops that specialize in steering column repairs. I was able to find a girl that worked here in Phoenix anddid the repair for $75 bucks (and she came to my house) in about 1/2 hour. She had the tools and worked for all the dealers (who probably charged $250).

You can try it yourself, but without the tool you will probably break something that will cost you more.
