Hello All,

I am wondering if anyone can explain why my 81 C3 sounds kind of like it has an exhaust leak when I first start it? After a couple minutes idling at about 1500-2000 rpm the sound goes away, the car seems to run fine!

During warmup, check your exhaust manifolds for leaks.
Warming the engine may be closing the tollerances and stopping a leak.

 

Thanks C3 Starship, you were right, the exhaust manifold was loose at the #7 cylinder a little at the center port also, I tightened them up and it's like night and day! Evidently just that couple minutes of warm up sealed them up, I never would have thought that in such a short time that would be the case! Thanks again for the tip!
