Power steering control valve

Power steering control valve
I just put on a rebuilt PSCV and had the car on a drive on lift, I had someone turn the steering wheel, the ball socket moved 1/8 of an inch in the control valve before anything else moved. When you let go of the wheel it centered, worked the same left or right, is that normal?

RE: Power steering control valve
not sure but I would think not. But then again I'm usually wrong. I bet Starship Commander Davewould know. If he don't chime in maybe you can PM him. Wouldn't want to drive it much if it is bad, could do some real damage.Cheers

RE: Power steering control valve
Found the answer, a little movement is normal. I went to www.corvettefaq.com
clicked on Jim Shea's steering papers then clicked on Corvette Ssteering Papers.
Armed with info I went for my alignment, they were able to center my steering wheel and adjust the toe. Now the car tracks straight again. PG
