pulls to left when braking, 1977 vette
my 1977 vette pulls to left when braking, then goes right. brake pads and rotors are good and wheel bearings are good. does anyone have this problem and whats the solution? any help much appreciated. thanks, art
i know that you already said that the braking components were good, but are you Certain that you have pressure at all 4 corners? i have dealt with a 76 with the same problem, that had a caliper that wasnt working properly.
I agree with Patrick, double check the operation of your calipers. If one is hanging up or is lazy for any reason, the one that is functioning properly will grab first causing a pull then the lazy one comes on and because your already countersteering will seem to pull the car the other way. I had a friend with this problem and his was in the caliper.
Jack the front up and spin both wheels. Both should spin a relatively equal amount of revolutions. Make sure your wheel bearing are tight/no play too. If all that checks good, you may need hoses. Everything to do with brakes should be done in pairs. Hoses, calipers, pads, packing wheel bearings, etc. [sm=shades.gif]
