Default stick **** release?

I brought this machine home today - '94, black/black - and the console (plus a few other things) is full of nasty corner jam. We don't put up with that around here...

How does the **** come off of the tranny shifter onthis auto? It looks like the same **** button that was on my '87 (got the button out OK), but I can't remember how the **** comes off.

Thanks

Is it the same as a 91?
If so, I didn't have to remove the shifter **** on my car to do the same thing.
My 6 speed was FUGLY . I managed to clean it all good by just taking off the 3 screws that hold the base plate in place. It's all cleaned up now.

Jim

I imagine it's the same as a '91 auto, but probably not the same as a stick.

As you can see, I got the leather boot unscrewed from the fascia with a shorty screwdriver; it screws UP, into the underside, and the fascia comes up over the ****.

I need to get the boot off, and the knobhas to come off first.

SOLVED.

The slots at 9:00 and 3:00 are not for tool Jxxxxx.

I pulled the stick back to 1 position, and saw this:
