tach not working

My (recently purchased) 1979 vette's tach is not working and I need advice on fixing it, or if its too involved getting a mechanic to fix it.

If you have recently bought it then you should contact its first owner.

you should go to the last owner and ask what is the problem.. .dont delay... if possible otherwise you can go to a mechanic to see how it can be corrected...
