C4 1992 - Emergency Brake Stuck
Recently purchased a 92 that was "garage kept" and "bad weather free" from day one. The first time I set the emergency brake, it stuck on and would not release. Question(s):
1) Has anyone every had this happen? Is there an easy way to release the brake so that I can move the vehicle to a hoist area and inspect the system?
2) Has anyone every hadany problem (other than a cable) that might be causing this? How is the cable connected to the handle?

Hello and welcome to the forum. Do you mean the brake lever is stuck up or does it move freely and the rear brakes are still locked on the rotors? If the lever will not move from the up position then pull up hard and push the button to release the lever. If the actuator on the rear brakes is bad, then you will have to disconnect the cable there and let it release. Hope this helps. BK

I'm inclined to agree with 9340vette. The first time I set the parking brake I thought it stuck. Pull up hard and release the button and let the handle down. I'm betting it will release. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks to each of you. I am travelling for a few more days but, I plan to try playing with the brake handle when I get home. It sounds like I just misunderstood how to use it properly. At least I hope thats all that is wrong. Thanks again!!
