Hard Start 89 C4
G'day all Vette lovers.
The car is a standard coupe 350 tuned port engine.
Had the car for a year but always hard to start. The tests done are: Fuel pressure checks ok at prime - 40 psi. Does leak down to about 30 psi after 15-20 mins.
Will only start with Aerostart or the Aussie equivalent "Start Ya Bastard!" (SYB). after intital uneveness and 1200 rpm would settle to 900 which is t00 high but it settles down to run e
When revved to 3000 or so little change in psi. When blipped a drop of 1psi . When warmed up and turned off it started ok once, thereafter when warm would not start.
Maybe the injectors are the problem. Pump seems ok. Replaced air flow meter and its 2 relays, the MAP sensor and the coolant temp sensor.
The other day I could not detect the 2 sec prime, just a continuous hum- would this cause flooding?
Another thing is the fuel is a year old or so, would this affect the starting.? Without SYB if won't even give a kick.
Would love some advice fellas.

Old gas never seems to help. The 84's came factory with the crossfire duel TB injection, has that been changed? If it's throttle body injection you should be able to look at the injectors after it's warmed up with just the key on engine off and see if the injectors are leaking. I would start with getting the old gas out, drive it out, pump or suck most of it out. Refill with a good grade of gas with a bottle Techron or something similar. If you don't want to mess with the old injectors just replace them and see if that makes a difference..
