I took car into a dealer because cooling lite came on code 51 came up
on the diagnois, they told me they would have to replace intake manifold
gasket cost $1,100

ask them what they charge for labor i think the labor book only calls for 5 to 6 hours to do that job. so it sounds like they are charging 200 per hour. chevy house told me 1200 to replace my heater core & its only a 5 hour job i did it my self . im gonne replace my intake gasket soon too oil leak at the back of block.juat waiting for about a week of nice weather so i can ride my harley to work & dont have to be in a hurry to get it done. im looking at my factory service manial for my 1990 code 51 is a faulty or incorrect mem cal in the ecm. now for the intake gasket are you leaking water in to the oil or oute side of the engine , where did wte coolant go for the light to have to come on ?
