Just discovered this site while searching for a 99 or 00 low mile C5.

Any advice to a first time vette owner would be greatly appreciated as well as references to any good deals

Reviewed many of the for sale ads...and see that people are boosting their performance and handling with aftermkt access.....what are the pro's and con's

Pro's and Cons of modding ? The sky's the limit, plenty to read about here although I plan on leaving mine stock for spell.

Good luck with the search and purchase... Check the Autotrader website, always a bunch of late model C5's there.... I watched mine on there for several weeks (watched the price drop dro drop) before I went and drove it... Drove it home same day

Another site you might like to check out is corvettetrader.com, that's where I found my '80 L82. Lots of Vettes to choose from, and you can choose, by catagory, which year and model in which you're interested.
