My name is Paul. I have problem with 78 oil pressure gauge. I rebuilt the engine a while back and didn't remember about not putting teflyon tape on the threads of sensor. I cleaned the tape off everything. I have juice to all gauges plus clock, but the oil pressure gauge pegs out. Any ideas what could be wrong.

 

It sounds like you sending unit may be bad, or the wire is grounded out. Start the car and disconnect the oil pressure sender and see if it drops to zero. If so replace sending unit.

 

My 2000 oil pressure was reading max. I replaced the oil pressure sensor and now the gauge reads normal.
