well lee, when i moved in my small national circuit from sportsman to pro, i had a guy with a big block B-body come over and ask me what engine i had. i told him that it was a 340, and he laughed and said "in this big of a car, youre going to get eaten alive". well, when i pulled into the box with my lowly 340, he pulled into the other box..i dialed 12.70, he dialed 12.40 with his 440 6pack roadrunner, and on the big end, he couldnt drive around me, and couldnt run his numbers...he was actually slower...

The stuff I'm hearing is that production is almost a given for Challenger. Makes sense -- Mustang is one of the biggest hits any of the American automakers have had lately. And better yet, sporty cars like Mustang have good profit margins. So, much as it was '65 with the first Mustang, Chrysler and GM can't help but sit by, lick their chops and work on getting their own piece of the action.

Which, of course, will mean a whole lot of fun for performance-car fans.
