Valentine is pretty good, but I don't use a detector as I am convinced that anymore they just get you into more trouble than its worth. I've noticed that troopers in NC and VA (where most of driving is) have adopted tactics that can defeat most detectors. Fines and points are hefty, as are the insurance hikes you take just for getting the ticket, even if you beat it in court.

I use a simple method that everyone has probalby used to some extent but this has resulted in no tickets in 30 years of driving.
- never go more than 12 mph over the limit
- never be the fastest car in site: let someone pass , then pull in behind them and follow at a distance that is not close but where you can keep them in site, and watch their taillights
- never tailgate (this, according to interviews with troopers, is what they look for most) and never drive in a boneheaded, aggresive manner, period.
- think about where troopers could be, but keep in mind they know the road better than you and are smart
- read the reactions of truckers: if 18 wheelers have been doing 75 in a 65 and suddenly slow to 68, you know why . . .
- when I want to go really fast, as in testing a new mod (I am embarrassed to admithow fast I have gone on public roads) I have a stretch of road I've identified as safe and where I know there are no driveways or cross streets and no places for patrols to hide, I do the testing as quietly as possible on a good weather Sunday morning, early, and I drive it fully back and forth before opening up -- and I make the test as short as possible that then get off that road and behave myself.

Which is the best radar detector today and answer is Valentine. I drive multiple cars, so i always use Valentine radar detector to transfer one cars to another. You can also use it for rental cars. It is very useful for a local polish or traffic departments.
