I guess it's only natural for ricers to look up to American muscle . I am also a member of a mustang forum and we always joke about the 5.0 engine as being the bench mark engine that ricers use to prove that their car is "fast". To them, their car is not truly fast unless they can beat a stock 5.0. Its kind of sad and flattering at the same time.

I've been a regular visitor to that site for years... I call it historic documentation on the oddity known as the human race. I saw a dude up here in a Toyota Supra the other day.... with 5.0 badges from a Mustang on his fenders... yeh, that baby was still runnin' the stock inline 6 in it, so the 5.0 badge was, uh.... useful.
There's a dude here at my office, a real nice dude I think the world of; expect for his taste in cars. He's got a Civic, replete with fart can and 4 point harness, and stickers, and.... the list goes on. He's also got a bone stock MR2. He almost factory ordered a new Civic Si the other day.... that was a close call.
Anyways, we had a marvellous day here late last week. Sunny and pretty warm, considerin'. Roof down weather, for sure. Coming back from errands my buddy was wanderin' down the road so I pulled over and told him to hop in for a ride. I let the beast loose. He kept goin' on and on about how much money he'd have to spend on his Civic to make it near as fast as the Vette, and how it still wouldn't have that torque.
I asked him, "Why not buy a Vette, then??"
No response, really. I can't get my head around it, at all, to be honest.

The "look at me generation" could save a bunch of money by getting some dayglo graphics saying, "Look at me, I'm going to do something really stupid any second with this lump". Funny how theaccessory one sees most often on the back of a 'riced out' econo car(besides the required 'fart can') is the reflection of party lights from a police cruiser. Classic case of self induced profiling.

Blueshark,
IMme an email address and I'll pop some pictures off to you. I can't get the picture posting function to make any sense to me (I'm a computer dunce) on any of the sites I visit. Feel free to post them if you want. Had a few Corvettes in my day (nine total) that started when my father took delivery of anew'53.
