New to the club and a first time Vette owner too!! Can anyone help me on a few questions... I bought A 2001 Z06 from a private dealership. I always wanted a vette, but I really know nothing about them. So my first question is ...how can I tell the difference from a "normal" Z06 from a 405? I know this sounds lame but I was told my car is the 405..isn't there a logo on the side of the car. I looked at some places that say "Z06 emblem/z06405" and some look like mine but then others actually say Z06405. On my car It just says "Z06".
Next question, I have the Corsa exhaust system also, but I noticed a "burbbling"sound when I decelarate. Can this be corrected by buying the "X" pipe for the exhaust?
Also please help in any tips on maintaing the car or anything else. I must tell you, WOW! can this car move!! I'm 47 and it took 30 years to finally buy my dream car. I would appreciate any and all help from you.

If your car is a 2001 ZO6, and if the badges on the fenders say "ZO^" but not "405 HP" in small letters benerath it, then it is a 2001 ZO^ with 385 (versus the standard vette 350 at the time). Differences were in the cam and other small things.

There are real differences and your car is down 20 HP from the 2002, 405 HP ZO6 vette. If you have proof that the dealer told you 405 HP, go back and give him a hard time andf see what you can get, but -- big deal. Its still a great car and . . . add headers, an air box, etc., and you have more than 405 HP. They are really cool cars. Congrats and enjoy it.

The burbling and all is due to resonance in the exhaust, an X or H pipe will not correct it and might make it worsel. As far as I know only the Borlas Stinger and GHL flow through exhausts are really any different.

Thanks so much for your reply..will look into it (as u suggested) and I got the car with a Hallinger(?) air system and headers with the corsa exhaust. Maybe this is why he told me it has 425 hp?? The car is fantastic and I really love it so I don't really care. It is so fun to drive.. going down to AC this weekend so I'll open it up some and see what shes made of!
