Default 1960 Corvette-Potential Buy

New member here,
I am looking at a 1960 Corvette but am unable to verify if the engine is original to the car. The number on the passenger side of the block is F0706CF, the VIN on the drivers door is 00867S101183. I have attached photos of both and a couple pictures of the car. My second question, did C1 Corvettes come equipped with soft tops? This one does not have soft top bows only a hardtop.

thank you.

Welcome to the forum. I think all the C1s came with a soft top standard. I don't even remember them having a hard top available but then that's been a long time ago. Now that I look at the chart on my wall, I see that at least the 56 and up versions had hard tops available. Not sure about the 53 through 55 though.

Default 1960 Corvette-Potential Buy Update

Thanks for the reply 73shark.

Went back and found the casting number (3756519) on the block, distributor number (1110891) and intake manifold casting number (3739653) all match the corvette black book for 1960. Still perplexed by the stamped block number F0706CF, which does not match. Any ideas as to why?
Another interesting observation all the hinges, hood latches, leaf springs, the generator, rear antiroll bar are all chromed.
Interesting but not in a good way, the interior (seats, door panels, dash) was upholstered in thick black tufted vinyl with buttons. Think 1970s disco

thanks
