I own a 63 Split Window i bought it with a 1971 LT1 engine in it. I want to get a 327 and build it with my father to put in this car, but i do not know what info i need so i can put the correct block & heads together and make this a matching numbers car. please help

 

Well, I believe to have a numbers matching car you have to have the originalparts as the VIN was stamped on them to associate them with the car. I am afraid the best you can hope for is period correct. unless you are lucky enough to track down the originals, which would be extremely hard to do if not impossible. I'm not sure but I think this is right.

 

so where do i find the info the make it period correct then. i am lost.

 

well, you would have to decode the vin and the data plate. I'm not sure where they are on the '63 but I will look into it and see. if you get a shop manual for it it should have all of the info to decode the numbers and where to find the numbers to decode. sounds like a great project. cheers
